The White House and U.S Capitol were briefly placed under lock-down today Tuesday November, 26th after an unauthorized aircraft entered a restricted airspace in the Washington area this morning. An alert was issued first at about 8;30 a.m and the lock-down was lifted at 9;12 a.m.

The event caused senior national security officials across the agencies to convene to coordinate and monitor the situation, according to a US defense official, an aircraft has been deployed to monitor the situation. “Senior officials across the inter-agency are monitoring the situation on a national event conference call. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), officials said the aircraft was not considered hostile as they are on site and responding,” Lt. Col. Chris Mitchell, a Pentagon spokesman said. But authorities would not say immediately what type of aircraft was involved.

A spokesman for the U.S secret service said the lock-down was ”due to potential violation of the restricted airspace in the National capitol region”. the alert which involves the aircraft was confirmed by the A.D.C police spokeswoman who said, ”In an ambulance of caution…access to Capitol Complex buildings was restricted for a short time.” The North American Aerospace Defense Command challenges the aircraft to respond to this violation .

The White House lock-down however, has been lifted.Two US Capitol Police sources said the situation is being classified as an “aircon,” which is an as yet unidentified incoming aircraft. The US Capitol Police have also given an all clear to the Capitol Hill complex, according to two US Capitol Police sources.
