TUNISIAN POLLS DECLARES WINNER OF THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE  BEFORE OFFICIAL RESULTS ARE RELEASED

Thousands of Tunisians have taken to the streets in celebration of Kais Saied’s victory in the just ended presidential elections as polls suggest.

The retired professor won about 76% of votes even though official results are yet to be made public.

He came up against a media mogul Nabil Karoui who was arrested on charges of corruption earlier this year and had to campaign from his prison cell, a charge which he has denied.

Following the results from the exit polls Mr. Saied greeted the young supporters in the streets of Tunis who apparently constituted a huge chunk of his electorates and promised to build a new Tunisia together.

Karoui on the other hand says he has been denied the choice of compete fairly and would decide whether to compete once the electoral commission has announce the official tally.

The results 15 September of the presidential elections are expected in the days ahead.
