The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Dion Ngute emphasized over the state radio CRTV last Tuesday that it is only in a peaceful environment that the recommendations obtained from the Major National Dialogue of last month can be effectively implemented.
“We need to work out a strategy for these young people who are in the bushes and who are largely ignorant of what is happening, to be aware of it and to come out of the bushes for peace to be re-established in those two regions.”he said.
Once peace is re-established, a number of these proposals will then be implemented and it will be possible for meaningful change to occur…” PM Dion Ngute added.
Government caravans sent to the North West and South West
Recently a peace caravan was deployed to the North West and South West region of Cameroon so as to prepare the grounds for the effective communication and implementation of the results of the Major National Dialogue.
The North West and South West regions of Cameroon for the past three years have been experiencing armed confrontations between the Cameroon military and the separatist who took arms to fight for the restoration of the independence of Southern Cameroon.
The president of the Republic Paul Biya in a way to resolve crisis convened a Major National Dialogue with adoption of recommendations that awaits implementations.
The president in an attempt to solve the Anglophone Crisis said a special status will be given to the North West and South West regions of Cameroon, but it still remains unclear what this special status is since the day the president, Paul Biya made this declaration.
