Former first lady Michelle Obama was nominated for the Grammy award on Wednesday for the best spoken word album award for the work she did on her memoir’s audio book “Becoming.”
For the same category, she will be competing against John Waters (“Mr. Know-It-All”), Eric Alexandrakis (“I.V. Catatonia: 20 Years As A Two-Time Cancer Survivor”), Sekou Andrews & The String Theory, and Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys (‘Beastie Boys Book”).
If she wins, she will add the award to her mantle after she was nominated for best- spoken word album for the audio-book narration of her autobiography ‘’Becoming’’ which was released in November 2018.
First time nominee
However, this is Michelle Obama’s first Grammy but her household’s third as former President Barack Obama has two Grammy’s in the same category. He won in 2006 and 2008 for the audio-book recordings of his books “Dreams of My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope.”
Michelle Obama’s memoir ”Becoming” was the second-best selling debut book which was released in November 2018,and it sold more than 10 million copies by March 2019 .
