12 ways to relax after a stressful day

Work can be stressful but, we still have to do our job to pay the bills. Sometimes a co-worker can say or do the wrong thing or maybe we missed a deadline and the boss is mad at us. There are many ways you can help to relieve stress after work. These are some of my favorite things to do after a stressful day.

Bathe

Taking a hot shower or bath is a great way to relax. When stressed our muscles have a tendency to tighten up. The hot water helps to relax your muscles.

Read a book or watch TV

Entering your mind into another world can distract you. After a while, you will forget what stressed you out in the first place.

Pick up dinner

Work is stressful enough. Sometimes figuring out what’s for dinner can be stressful in itself. Just stop by your favorite restaurant and pick food up for yourself or the family.

Call a friend

Sometimes venting out to a friend about your day will relax and make you feel 10x better.

Exercise

You don’t need to do an intense workout. Doing a 20-minute walk will help your blood flow and decrease stress.

Listen to music

Music is another way to let relax your mind. Listen to your favorite songs and sing along. It’s fun and relaxing.

Yoga

Yoga helps to relax the mind and body. Stretch those tight muscles out. Yoga also helps regulates your breathing. By regulating your breathing you’re are going to help your blood flow regulate.

Sleep

If you are stressed, you are probably tired too, just take a nap after work. If there is nothing to do just simply go to bed early. Getting extra sleep can make you feel more relaxed the next day.

Pamper yourself

Put on a facemask and paint your nails. Sometimes taking time out of the day for yourself will lower your stress. Either book an appointment or go to the store quick and pick up some facial masks.

Comfy clothes

Grab those fuzzy socks or slippers. Slip into your sweatpants or PJs. After a long day at work, it’s nice to sit on the couch, relax and unwind.

Find a hobby

Work on an old hobby or find a new one. Sometimes when we get stressed we forget to do the things we love. Doing new things can also help distract and relax your mind.

Retail therapy

After a stressful day at work, stop by the mall. Either you can window shop or spend a few bucks on yourself. You need to spend a lot. Maybe buy a new tool or shirt. Just keep it simple.
