Home Remedies for Toothaches
Toothache is not a friend to anybody. Even a minor toothache has the power to spoil your mood for the whole day. In such a situation, all you can think about is how to get rid of the pain. Here are some home remedies for toothaches:
To begin with, toothache can be caused by, a broken tooth, repetitive motions such as chewing, removal of a tooth, abscessed tooth, tooth decay or a nerve irritation in the root of the tooth.
Toothache can cause inflammation in the mouth and even cause the mouth to swell. But none the less, there are some simple home remedies you can use to calm the pain and also kill harmful bacteria’s found in the tooth.
Below are tips on how to reduce toothache pains but if you feel the pain is to extreme, it is preferable to meet you dentist.
Simple Home remedies for toothache;
1. Place Ice on the painful area
Placing ice on the affected tooth or area can help reduce the pain because it will cause the tooth to be numb.
There are several different Technics you can use to apply the ice;
- Hold the ice in your mouth for some seconds.
- Wrap ice in a towel and apply it to the affected area.
- Try chewing ice, but while doing this particular style, be careful not to break your teeth.
You can time yourself for 10 minutes while doing any of these Technics.
2. Salt Water Rinse
Salt is a natural disinfectant that can help reduce inflammation and also kill infections.
Therefore, if you rinse your mouth with salt water, it will clean dirt stuck up in between your teeth’s and clean your mouth.
Making salt water is very simple. That is measure ½ teaspoons of salt and mix in a cup of warm water. Then gargle the salt water solution. You can do these 2 times a day.
Garlic is also considered to be a pain reliever which helps to fight against bacteria’s in the body.
For your toothache, you can simply, grind garlic and place on the aching tooth. Also, if you have garlic oil, you can soak it in cotton and place on your tooth for some minutes.
4. Guava Leaves
Surprisingly, guava leaves have special nutrients that help reduce tooth ache. Guava leaves are made up of anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
Boil guava leaves then allow it to get cold. You then use the cool tea to rinse your mouth.
You can equally chew the guava leaves.
Other ways to natural reduce/stop toothache include;
Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse, Tea Bags, Vanilla Extract and Clove
Note that, these remedies should not be used by pregnant women because it might not be good for the baby. So pregnant women are advised to see the doctor in case of any toothache.
