42 persons are reported to have died following the Gouachi landslide in Bafoussam this Monday according to official government sources.
The minister of Teritorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji and Celestine Ketcha Courtes of the ministry of housing and urban development on the site of the incident indicate that 6 of the 42 casualties are men while 10 are women. 4 pregnant women also lost their lives alongside 11 boys and 15 girls. 1 man died with his wife and their children.
as at now 36 corpses have officially been identified. The state is said to take charge of all medical expenses with another ministerial delegation composed of 4 ministers awaited on site.
the area has been marked out as a risk zone with locals called upon to quit the area due to the high risk of another landslide occurring.
