Mr. Salmon who served as Scotland’s First Minister between May 16th 2007 and November 20th 2014, has been indicted with several charges of sexual offences against 10 women while he was still in Office as Scotland’s First Minister. His trial date has been set for March 9th 2020 by judge Dorrian, and is set to last for approximately four weeks.

Salmon who is 64 years old and lives in Aberdeenshire, appeared in court and made no plea during the first hearing and was released on bail. He appeared after court and told reporters that he wasn’t guilty of any of all the allegations against him, which include one attempted rape, one intent to rape, 10 sexual assaults and two indecent assaults, which makes it a total of 14 charges against him at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Allegedly, this allegations occurred between June 2008 and November 2014. ‘’The only thing that I can say is I refute absolutely these allegations of criminality and I will defend myself to the utmost in court. I’ve got great faith in the court system in Scotland and it is where I will state my case,’’ says Salmon outside the court after a brief hearing. He added: “The only proper place to answer criminal charges is in this court, and that is exactly what I intend to do next spring.”

An instance of a rape  attempt by Salmon allegedly took place in June 2014 at the first minister’s official Bute House residence in Edinburgh. He is alleged to have pressed a woman against a wall and removed her clothes and his own, and then pushed her onto a bed and lye naked on top of her. He also intended to rape a woman in December 2013 at Bute House by causing her to sit on a bed, lying on top of her, making sexual remarks to her, touching her buttocks, thighs and breasts over her clothing with his hands, repeatedly kissing her face, struggling with her and pulling up her dress after he had Sexually assaulted the same woman at Bute House in November or December 2013 by kissing her on the mouth

The Police opened an investigation after a Scottish government inquiry into complaints of sexual harassment against him. But Salmond launched a judicial review against the government over how it had handled its inquiry, claiming that, he had been unfairly treated and  the government later granted his request and Salmon paid out more than £500,000 as legal fee.
