ELECAM sets rules for the February 2020 twin polls, to ensure that the elections are successful

The Director General of Elections Cameroon Eric Essusse has announced some guidelines which he says must be followed to the later to

ensure that the upcoming municipal and legislative elections go on hitch-free come February 2020.

The decision laying down the organization and functioning of polling stations across the national territory on how operations will be carried

out in each polling station is said to comply with articles of the countries Electoral Code.

Amongst the measures made public today, the DG announced that 2 ballot boxes will be made available one for municipal and the other

for legislative elections.

He also stated that polling items such as disposal bags, ink, vote counting sheets amongst others shall be provided by ELECAM with the

chairperson of the local pooling station responsible for the smooth conduct of the polls.

Voting must effectively begin at 8 am with all the ballot boxes opened for verification before the first vote cast so that the national and

international observers and electors present should ascertain that the boxes are empty.

voters will be identified by their cards which is valid as well as national identity card and only members of the local polling commission shall

be allowed in the hall.

After all that must have been done, vote counting shall be done by the local polling commission in a serene atmosphere to ensure that

everything is done in order as the February 9, 2020 polls approaches.
