President Paul Biya the president of Cameroon expected in Ngoa-Ekelle this Thursday.
It is on Thursday, December 12, 2019 that the laying of the foundation stone of the future building of the National Assembly will take place on the Ngoa-Ekelle site. Head of State Paul Biya president of Cameroon has been announced for the ceremony.

He will be accompanied by First Lady Chantal Biya of Cameroon and Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon Wang Sifa.
Support from the People’s Republic of China

The new building of the Cameroonian parliament, valued at 54.5 billion CFA francs, is an unrequited donation from the People’s Republic of China to Cameroon. In addition to funding, China also intends to contribute its expertise in the realization of the architectural jewel. The works planned is to last for 42 months. The surface of the infrastructure, is estimated to 37 500 m².

The National Assembly

The deputy chairman of the National Assembly in Cameroon and chairman of the monitoring committee for this project, Theodore Datouo announced last July, that the government had already cleared 9 hectares on the site of the site, which range from the current site of the National Assembly through the camp of the mobile squadron group No. 1 of the National Gendarmerie and the President’s residence of the Economic and Social Council.

The building area will house a 400-seat building, a 14-storey building, a 1000-seat party hall, a fire station and a water treatment plant, among others. According to parliamentary sources, the current hemicycle will be transformed into a museum.
