Cameroon: Former Prime minister Inoni Ephraim left hospital in France.
Detained since 2012 and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, the former Head of Government was evacuated to France in October 2019 from the Kondengui prison for health reasons.
Former Prime Minister and Head of Government Chief Ephraim Inoni seems to have regained his freedom. It is actually believed that his absolute freedom now lies on his hands.
Evacuated to France for health reasons in October last year from the prison, the former prime minister has been in a hospital in Paris since then.
Jeune Afrique reported on June 11, 2020 that Chief Ephraim Inoni has left the hospital for an apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The apartment was provided to him by the Cameroon government.
“Chief Inoni is housed in a small apartment furnished by the Cameroonian government, which he managed from 2004 to 2009. If he seems better, a return to Cameroon – and to prison – is not envisaged. Everything suggests that this ex-dignitary will extend his stay in France. He had been badly burned on July 22, 2019 by fellow inmates who had mutinied in Kondengui central prison, where he was serving a sentence of twenty years of imprisonment for embezzlement of public funds. Left for dead, Ephraïm Inoni was first treated at the central hospital in Yaoundé before Paul Biya authorized, in October 2019, his evacuation to France “ Jeune Afrique writes
Ephraim Inoni has been deprived of freedom since 2012. He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for embezzlement of public funds, in a in the plane rental case for the defunct national airline Camair.
At age 72, the former boss of the star building is now doing better in France. His return to Cameroon, and back to prison is not seen in any day ahead.
It is known that Chief Inoni like any other in his position will never want to come back to Cameroon, knowing very well his destination upon arrival at the airport.
