The former Director of Information on salaries and president of Unisport of Bafang sentenced to 104 years in prison.
The Yaounde special criminal court today Tuesday has sentenced Emmanuel Lebou who worked at the Ministry of Finance as Director of Information on salaries to 104 years in prison.
He was charges guilty for creating 2601 fake salary accounts worth 1.8 billion FCFA per month for a 10 years period.
Emmanuel Lebou was arrested last year alongside five others, Abeele Mbozozoo, Tamba Alexxandre, Mefiro Pempeme and Aissatou Boullo from the Ministry of Finance and Amadou Haman of the Sigipes unit at the ministry of Communication.
They were accused of tempering will civil servant payrolls which enabled some civil servants to earn double salaries, illicit financial advantages as well as salaries.
Fortunately for Mefiro Pempeme, son of the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Transport as well as Tamba Alexandre were set free by the Magistrate at the Yaounde special criminal court for lack of substantial evidence. The others were transferred to Kondengui during which investigations were done
Emmanuel Lebou is popularly known as Zagalo. He was the former president of Unisport of Bafang. During his days as president the club was doing extremely better at the Elite One. This can be due to the heavy finance he injected into the club.
The 56 years old was arrested and detained last year, and the football club Unisport of Bafang have have been relegated to the second division, struggling for survival.
Gone are the good old days of Emmanuel Lebou and his former club Unisport of Bafang, even though many are hoping the club will stand strong again.
