The United States embassy denied the information relating to the refusal of audience by Paul Biya to US Ambassador to Cameroon.
On Sunday May 31, 2020, the Services of the American representation in Yaounde denied all information relating to the refusal by president Paul Biya to grant audience to the United States Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Peter Henry Barlerin.
According to the Embassy of the United States, the Ambassador, Peter Henry Barlerin did not make any request to the Cameroon presidency to meet with president Paul Biya.
The information about the denial of president Paul Biya to grant audience to the US Ambassador was conveyed on social networks on Saturday May 30.
Through it Tweeter page, the American embassy brought an official denial to this information.
” Recent information circulating on social media about an alleged request for an ambassador’s hearing with President Biya is false. There have been no requests of this nature and, therefore, no requests have been made. was rejected, “the embassy tweeted.
A surfer by name Nzui Manto Yi Sepsep, on Saturday May 30 posted on his Facebook page the following message, ” Flash: Request for audience of the American ambassador rejected by the civil cabinet! The ambassador said that ‘he is Thomas (Sic) “, the message reads.
As the internet is a rapid transporter of information, the information was immediately taken up by other internet users. However, the purpose for the hearing was not cited in the information, the idea of which apparently would never have crossed the minds of the American authorities in Cameroon.
The last time these two personalities met was on March 11, 2020 at the Unity Palace, where the two men discussed the support of the United States to help fight the covid-19 pandemic as well as HIV/AIDS in Cameroon.
