Cameroonians should not expect any treatment or vaccine for corona virus soon, according to Public Health Minister.

On Wednesday March 18, 2020, the minister of Public Health Manaouda Malachie hosted a press conference on the corona virus pandemic.

At the press conference, the minister announced three new cases of the virus in Cameroon.

Two persons were tested positive in Bafoussam West region and one in Yaounde.

Public Health minister made it clear to the public that there is yet no cure for the virus, and it will still take time for any treatment or vaccine to be available.

“The Corona-virus has no cure. So far we have neither vaccine nor treatment. But the good news is that there are already prototypes.

We will have to wait 12 to 18 months for either a vaccine or a treatment, ”said Manaouda Malachie, minister of Public Health.

The ministers said doctors prescribe medications and treatments in response to symptoms demonstrated by patients.

” We have described how we feel when we suspect the Corona virus. It is cough or fever. When you have a fever, you are given something to lower the fever.

When you have a cough, you are given something for a sore throat. When you have another symptom, you are given something adequate until the virus goes away, ” the minister revealed.

Presently Cameroon has 13 cases of contamination of the virus.

The government has taken several measures to limit the spread of the virus across the country.

Among the measures are the closure of all her borders and lock down of schools, suspension of sporting activities.
