CAF female award goes to Nigeria, no disappointment for the Cameroonian rival

The Indomitable Lionesses’ striker Nchout Njoya Ajara, favorite long-time winner of the best African player of the year 2019, was unexpectedly defeated by Nigerian Oshoala.

The best players in African football in 2019 are now known. Their identities were revealed during the 28th edition of the CAF Awards held on Tuesday January 7, 2020 in Egypt.

In pole position to win the 2019 African Player of the Year award, Nchout Njoya Ajara was not rewarded. The prize was awarded to the Nigerian Oshoala. She garnered 351 votes, 30 more than Cameroonian striker

Nchout Njoya Ajara and Thembi Kgatlana, who had 247 votes.

Nchout Njoya Ajara, remains calm, despite this defeat.

“Thank you for your love. I never lose, either I win or I learn. Together, we will come back stronger tomorrow. Congratulations to the National Women’s Team for this prestigious award,” said the Indomitable Lioness on

her Facebook account.

A real chance for Cameroon, Nchout Njoya Ajara has not been crowned despite admirable statistics over the past year. We can cite among others: two goals in the World Cup France 2019 with one of these

achievements nominated for the Puskas prize for the best goal of the year, best scorer of the Norwegian club Valerenga with 11 achievements and best scorer of Cameroon in the qualifiers OJ (5 achievements).

Against all odds, the CAF preferred the Nigerian Asisat Oshoala to her.
