Defense and Security forces of Cameroon invaded the territories of “Amba” fighters in Meme Division and killed at least seven separatist fighters.

Malende, a locality in the Kumba III sub division was a battle ground for soldiers and separatist fighters on Tuesday June 2,2020. The military succeeded to clear the area of the last vestiges of armed separatist who seek to make a breakaway state called Ambazonia.

The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Meme Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong speaking to newsmen on June 3 said the operation of the military saw the recovery of assorted weapons, solar panels, phones, and some military paraphernalia, all from the camp of the armed separatists.

The SDO said the mission of the military is to relief the people of Teke, Mambanda, Malende, Three-Corners, and their environs from the separatists where they have established their bases.

According to Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong, the seven killed is a warning to the others who are still hiding in the bushes. He called on them to honor and obey the presidential call to lay off their weapons and be reintegrated back into the society through the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) program created by the government.

“Let me say it openly here that the SDO and his team will continue permanently to secure our population. Those boys, there is no way for them if they don’t want to lay down their guns. I’ll continue to hunt them! I am calling on them to seize this opportunity to lay down their guns as the Head of State said,” the SDO said.

Those killed are said to be among those who have been giving tough times to the people of the communities of Teke, Malende, Three corners, Ikiliwindi, and Mmbanda, all in the Kumba II Subdivision.
