“The Cameroonian government is talking about a reconstruction program for the North West and the South West, but unfortunately there is no possibility of implement it “, says Tibor Nagy.
Tibor Peter Nagy on July 30 displayed his skepticism about the reconstruction plan of the government of Cameroon for the North West and South West regions.
These two regions have been in the throes of a war of independence for four years. The war has claimed the lives and properties of thousand of people and caused several thousands to be displaced.
The Cameroonian government is talking about a reconstruction program for the North-West and the South-West , but unfortunately there is no possibility of implementing it. And then, the Cameroonian government seems to forget that the number one desire of the populations of the North West and South West is to have a say in the management of their own affairs, “ the diplomat said.
“It is one thing to talk about development, but at the heart of it is the deep desire of the populations of the North West and South West to have control in the management of their own affairs and as long as the government of Cameroon does not understand it, all these programs will come and none of them will be successful, ” Tibor Nagy added.
A budget of 89.6 billion FCFA was the proposed budget for the reconstruction of the North West and South West during the Major National Dialogue convened on September/October 2019.
The program will last for ten years, with the rehabilitation of 12,000 houses, 40 bridges, 115 health centers, 600 kilometers of roads, 400 water points, 350 schools, etc.
The mission is headed by Paul Tasong , who is also Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Development.
