More than 50 Ambazonia separatist fighters have been killed by the Cameroon Defense and Security Forces led by Colonel Matiang Charles Alain.
In six days from April 25, 2020 Colonel Matiang Charles Alain swept Bafut.
Colonel Matiang Charles Alain led the special operation in Bafut with not less than 300 military elements from different military detachment.
The operation was made of security from different forces such as the Motorized Infantry Brigade and the 501 Air Force Base.
Beginning from Sop,through Mankwi, to Manka Nikoh through to Nsanimunwi and beyond Agyati, the security forces wiped off scores of separatist battles notable the notorious “general” Peace plant and “general” Alhadji.
According to open sources, more than 53 separatist fighters were killed in the operation.
It was revealed that “general” Alhadji masterminded the kidnap of some 79 students, the principal and three staff members of the Presbyterian Secondary School (PSS) Nkwen on November 5, 2018.
Also known as the “Bafut Seven Katta Defense Force”, the separatist fighters of Bafut had taken and transformed over the luxurious Saddle Hill Ranch Hotel into their operational base.
During the operation the Cameroon Defense and Security forces recovered the hotel from the separatists.
Several weapons were recovered together with motorcycles, a Toyota Fortuner SUV and two horses that were collected from civilians by the separatist fighters.
Brigadier General Nka Valère, Commander of the 5th Joint Military Region, thanked Colonel Matiang and the soldiers who led the operation.
He also extended the gratitude of the head of shate, Commander-in- chief of the Armed Force as well of that of the Minister Delegate at the presidency in charge of Defense.
Also, he praised the professionalism of the soldiers in the operation that led to just one soldier wounded.
Brigadier General Nka Valère, Commander of the 5th Joint Military Region, and Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine Nnoko, Commander of the 5th Gendarmerie Region said the liberation of the people of Bafut from the separatist is part of the mission.
