Coronavirus challenged Africa to stop depending on Europe and America as Madagascar produced plant-based drug to cure coronavirus
On Friday, Senegal became the first country to order coronavirus herbal drug ” Covid Organics” from Madagascar.
Launched last week, the drug was developed by Madagascar as treatment against COVID-19.
On his twitter account, Andry Rajoelina, president of Madagascar announced he has met with Senegalese president Macky Sall.
He revealed that in their meeting Senegal had ordered for the drug.
The drug is particularly composed of medical herbs and artemisia annua (sagebrush), to fight the COVID-19 disease.
“Africa acts and protects itself against # Covid19. Thank you to the President @Macky_Sall for our exchanges and his confidence. #Senegal congratulates #Madagascar for the improved traditional remedy Covid-Organics & launches a 1st order”, tweeted Andry Rajoelina, who thanked his Senegalese counterpart.
“Long live Africa and the natural riches of Africa,” Rajoelina added.
In response the Senegalese president, Macky Sall tweeted, “I welcome the fruitful exchange with President @SE_Rajoelina on sharing experiences and good practices in the fight against # Covid19. I salute Madagascar’s efforts to find therapeutic solutions that Senegal is following with interest “.
Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), appreciated and expressed support to Madagascar for drugs studies, not leaving out academic research.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Madagascar has not reported any death case from the virus.
Of the 124 active cases the country recorded, 61 have recovered.
On April 24, measures to contain the virus in Madagascar were eased.
Education has resumed, and the administration is distributing for free the “Covid Organic” to all pupils and students.
Africa has learnt from the coronavirus not to depend on the west.
Other African countries have taken the responsibility not to depend on Europe and America for the COVID-19 cure, where no one knows when they will find the cure.
