A scene of violence once more dampened the educational milieu in Cameroon

A recent scene of violence once more dampened the educational milieu in Cameroon as a mathematics teacher at Government High School Nkolbisson was stabbed to dead by his own student.

The boy who goes by the name Brice and is said to be less than 18 years old committed the act while Tchakounte Maurice was in class trying to put the kid in order as his classmates testify.

The 26 year old was rushed to the Yaoundé teaching hospital but it was too late to rescue the situation as he died as a result of the stabbed wound.

The Cameroon penal code in section 275 states that whoever causes another’s death shall be punished with imprisonment for life.

If it was premeditated then the punishment is death for capital murder.

Meanwhile section 80 of the same code prescribes that “for an offence committed by a person aged over 14 and under 18 years, responsibility shall be diminished.”

The student has been apprehended by the forces of law and order with investigation opened on the matter.

Classes have been suspended at lycée Nkolbysson due to the incident till further notice.

This comes following another incident which was recorded in Douala a few months ago in lycée Deido this time in where a student stabbed another to death.
